Farallon Islands
The Farallon Islands, located approximately 25 miles west of the San Francisco Golden Gate, are part of the vast Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary. Replete with Elephant Seals, Great White Sharks, and a variety of sea birds and mammals, it's managed by both U.S. Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Coast Guard, with the quasi-permanent presence of scientists from the Point Reyes Bird Observatory (PRBO), who've conducted research on the islands for the past 50 years. Via the slideshow below, take a ride with us as we sail from the Golden Gate, tie off on a mooring, greet the researchers and tour Southeast Farallon Island. |

Baja California
Baja California, from Cabo San Lucas to the American border, presents spectacular, remote and arid landscapes, in addition to limited amenities for the sailing vessel underway.
Among those anchorages are Bahía Magdalena, Bahía Tortuga, and Bahía Asunción. Via the slideshow below, we'll take you on the fast version of the Cabo to San Diego trip, what some refer to as 'The Baja Bash', a nearly 800 mile coastal sail. From super yachts in Cabo to modest pangas and fantastic sunsets, we'll give you a taste of the more pleasant aspects of the notoriously challenging trip. |
