RaptureCousteau referred to nitrogen narcosis as 'Rapture of the Deep' - a feeling of melancholy and bliss as one descends further into the unknown.
Sailing in a fresh breeze, we can only suspect, is not unlike this feeling, in that as conditions become increasingly challenging, the singularity of purpose and concentration bring a sense of still and bliss. And thus, we'll refer to it as 'rapture of the blue'. |
Rapture - revisited... and there is rapture and bliss in port and anchor, as well. With a glass of vino, brandy, cool water or cold Orangina, la dolce vita is never far.
There is pleasure of course not only in doing but also in being able to do: in being able to make a choice not to partake, but to be a spectator as the world sails past, and be just as content as otherwise. |
